    Great!

    Kind of a 'Swiss Army Knife' for home-grown recording but unlike the aforesaid knife, this has actually done a very good job at everything I've tried so far. For what you get, the price is good too. I found the manual a bit hard going but then downloaded the .pdf version which is a lot easier to search. The ability to connect it to a computer and transfer .wav files makes it great for adding / editing with extras. Trifling thing but the ability to name individual tracks would have been a bonus but then again I could have missed something in the manual! BUY IT - You will not be disappointed.

    Great for band recording

    Tascam gear is always brilliant and easy to use. I bought this for my son's band to record demo's. They've now moved onto bigger things so I've been using for writing and demos. Sound quality is great and the machine is easy to use once you get the hang of it. Sadly the lack of midi makes it impossible to work with sequencers other than recording one big Synth mix onto stereo tracks, meaning no ability to remix as you go. Other drawbacks: effects are good but you're limited in application. Good suite of dynamics though. Other issues are with mix down and mastering which are quite complicated. And you can't actually listen to the master file through the mixer when you've finished. Final point: I've tried mixing to an external CD recorder and the output volume is quite low.     Am I too old for this?

    Within 30 minutes I had a very bad introduction for squeeze box. I have done it properly since. Huge amount to learn but I am determined

    Great machine

    I’ve had one for a couple of years. It has some minor limitations (unprecise micro-editing, no MIDI Clock sync on this model, dynamics only applied at recording stage) but it does what it says on the tin and it does it very well for the price.

    Tascam Ye right

    Never buy aTascam .I made this mistake with 2 of their high end machines .However they never updated the software and the machines are useless .Had my fingers burnt ,will never touch them again , great business model
