    AWESOME MECHANICAL STROBE TUNER

    Incredibly pleased with this tuner. It is kilometers ahead of synthesized electronic strobes and needle tuners. The ST stretch function matches the offsets in your harmonics to the length of your piano to provide a virtually professional result. It reaches the whole width of my piano. I use a quality microphone which enhances the result. The frequencies match so closely that the unisons don't even need adjustments, and I can touch up at any time which is a total luxury. I have saved way more than this unit cost me. This was a good deal on eBay, so I bought a spare.

    This is a really nice mechanical servo strobe

    The 490 ST is additionally suited for stretch tunings for instruments where harmonics of string vibration are not exact multiples due to instrument characteristics. There are 8 different Piano presets for various string lengths, and one may add multiple tuning files. Because the display is physical, only your eye determines how close you have come to a selected note, as opposed to depending on electronics to make that judgement. There is therefore no practical limit to accuracy. As with all tuners, rhere is still a challenge visualing very high or very low notes using this unit, but I find it very much worthwhile.
